Good Question: How do you stay optimistic?
Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:35PM When I found out recently that two leadership families at MVCC were moving back to California this summer believe it or not I had to keep from laughing. “Are you serious God?” was my natural reaction. Over the past couple of years I think I’ve said more goodbyes to friends than my previous 38 years combined! Yet, I know that in most cases, these are people who are following God’s lead in their big decisions so I learn to deal with my disappointment.
Like many of you the plans I had in mind for myself and the church only a few short years ago have been completely turned upside down. Yet, for some inexplicable reason I am very optimistic. Let me tell you why and hopefully you’ll be encouraged:
- I know that nothing has surprised God and that He has a plan for everything.
- I know that I have many good friends and partners in ministry who sense God’s call to stay in Buckeye and to be a part of the next phase of our church’s outreach/impact.
- New leaders have stepped up during the past year to help me with leading and organizing the church.
- My family is together and my wife and kids love me and love the ministry we do.
- Everyone in my family is currently healthy and Zach’s heart has been doing well.
- I know that my challenges are nothing compared to what others are experiencing.
- I’m learning a ton of stuff that can only be learned in tough times.
- We have a team of people outside of our church who are praying and rooting for us to be a thriving spiritual force in Buckeye.
- We continue to see people come to Christ, get baptized, be discipled.
- Buckeye is still growing and the need for a church with our heart is greater than ever before.
